Nicholas Kazonis, a Blue Steel Blues Society artist and a former artist of Novo Productions, is a passionate and versatile musician, composer, producer, educator, and author whose music is deeply rooted in soul music. At the foundation of his sound is a rich emotional intensity that flows from the tradition of soul, seamlessly blended with the grit of blues and blues rock, the groove of funk and R&B, the spontaneity of jazz improvisation, and the heart of Mediterranean influences. This distinctive fusion allows Nicholas to craft performances and compositions that are both timeless and emotionally resonant, establishing him as a genre-blurring artist with a voice all his own.

Based in Northwest Indiana and shaped by Chicago’s rich musical heritage, Nicholas has spent over two decades immersed in the music world—performing, composing, teaching, recording, and producing. Whether captivating an audience from the stage or guiding students in the studio, his work is fueled by heart, authenticity, and an unwavering commitment to artistic excellence.

Nicholas’s journey as a performer has evolved over the years—from delivering intimate solo acoustic sets, to working as a freelance guitarist and collaborator with a wide range of artists, to becoming the frontman and bandleader of his own 8-piece ensemble, The Nicholas Kazonis Band. This flagship group showcases his original music with dynamic arrangements and soulful energy. In addition to leading his own band, Nicholas is also a founding member of Caught On Cline, a genre-blending powerhouse known for its unique fusion of Mediterranean influences, funk, and improvisational spirit. Whether performing solo, with his full band, or in collaboration with Caught On Cline, Nicholas brings emotional depth, technical precision, and groove to every stage.

Offstage, Nicholas is the founder of Region Buzz 219, a professional recording studio and music education centerlocated in Merrillville, Indiana. Through this platform, he provides private lessons in guitar, bass, piano, strings, brass, and music production, serving a wide range of students from beginners to advanced players. A respected educator for over 20 years, he is known for his personalized and empowering teaching style.

Nicholas is also an author, having written over 10 music education books and resource materials for students, teachers, and performers. His works include method books, theory workbooks, practice journals, and children's music resources—each one crafted to inspire creativity, discipline, and a lifelong love of music.

A proud collaborator with Harden Engineering, Nicholas performs with his own signature model guitar and custom cabinet, designed to reflect his unique tone and artistic voice. This partnership highlights his dedication to craftsmanship and individuality in both sound and presentation.

His most recent release, “Shades of Blue” (May 3, 2025), showcases his rich blend of soul and blues, wrapped in lush harmonies, lyrical depth, and guitar-driven storytelling. The album is a personal exploration of identity, longing, growth, and resilience—solidifying Nicholas’s place as a soulful and seasoned voice in modern roots and fusion music.
